Our Performing Arts programme is well established at the College and each year there are many opportunities for students to be involved in music, dance and drama productions both as performers and behind the scenes learning about stage management, lighting, sound, costuming and front of house.
The College stages a number of major productions each year that allow large numbers of students from across the age range to take to the stage as well as providing more intimate performance opportunities.
The Middle School stages two productions each year, one a musical primarily for students in Years 9 and 10, and another aimed at giving students in Years 7 and 8 the chance to perform on stage to an audience. The content of the Year 7 and 8 show ranges from a talent show, bringing music, dance and drama to the fore or other performance opportunities such as a wearable arts show.
Our Senior Drama students stage a major dramatic production in Term 1 each year along with a further show later in the year for our Year 12 NCEA Drama students to present their assessment pieces.
The major production of the year is the musical in Term 3 that brings our biggest cast and crew together that over the years has brought the ‘big name shows’ such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Les Miserables to the stage in professional productions enjoyed by large audiences.
