Scholarships and Bursaries
To be considered for a Scholarship, applicants must be New Zealand citizens or hold New Zealand residency. Applications are invited from students currently in Year 8 at a school in New Zealand. Scholarships are awarded from the beginning of Year 9 and are for the duration of the student’s College education dependent on the student’s positive attitude and commitment to College endeavours.
Our Scholarships are awarded to students who have achieved highly or exhibited excellence in Academic, Sporting, Performing Arts or Musical endeavours.
Students applying for a Scholarship, regardless of the category, sit an academic entrance exam or are assessed in their area of expertise. Those applying for a Musical or Performing Arts scholarship will be required to prepare an audition piece.
Old Collegians’ Scholarship
An Old Collegians’ Scholarship is also available to a student with a Saint Kentigern family connection to a former student.
Sons and daughters of Ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand are admitted on special terms.
The Ministry of Education also offers a scheme for students entering Year 9 the following year. The Aspire Scholarship has been designed for students from low income families who would like to attend a New Zealand private secondary school.
Full details of Aspire Scholarships may be found on the link to the Ministry of Education below.
Bursaries are means tested and are sometimes available for families whose child would otherwise be unable to afford or complete an independent education through hardship or changed circumstances. These are decided on individual circumstances and are awarded at the discretion of the Head of College.
